Published: 01 December 2014 For many businesses Snapchat is still fairly foreign and new, but businesses that do know about this social networking app tend to steer clear believing it has no benefit to them whatsoever. This isn’t necessarily true.

Social media is a powerful tool for brands, with 100 million monthly active users Snapchat is just as big as the rest of them!

Just recently there have been adjustments made to Snapchat allowing businesses to reach audiences on Snapchat within the “Story” function. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about check out this beginners guide to Snapchat from Mashable).

It allows a brand to send an image or video via Snapchat to targeted users. At the moment Snapchat haven’t quite mastered the full art of targeting but are on their way to defining it. Currently targeting is based on your contacts and the type of stories you watch on your Snapchat.

But how can businesses use Snapchat?

Showcase new products
Have a new item of clothing coming out? You could showcase this by creating a short video of someone modelling it.  New menu? Send a Snapchat of your food looking delicious, that’s bound to get your audience’s attention!

Show your audience what its like behind the scenes
Make your customers feel involved with your brand; show them things they wouldn’t normally see on other social networks creating a more personal feel.

Do all of your customers ask the same questions? Provide a Q&A video
Provide a quick video answering some of the most asked questions by your customers.

Want to stand out from the crowd? Get on Snapchat

As I said above not many businesses are on Snapchat so if you’re looking to stand out from competition then this is one way to do exactly that!
