Does your event need managing 'Minute-by-Minute'?.

The computer you are reading this on wouldn't function without its central processing unit which has an internal "clock rate". The GPS you used to get to work relies on atomic clocks as well as a firm understanding in general and special relativity! The earliest calendar was created in 8,000 BCE in Scotland. So ways of tracking time is and always has been immensely important.

Back in 2010, Sagittarius CEO, Paul Stephen came to me with an idea which seemed revolutionary. The brief was to build a system that allowed events around the world to track what was happening minute by minute. But in that moment I began building something which for any event organiser is the ultimate tool, the worlds first real time event management system.... Minute-by-Minute was born!.

Minute-by-Minute has been specifically developed for the motorsport industry to coordinate the annual Race of Champions event. Race of Champions is an international motorsport event and features some of the world's best racing and rally drivers such as Formula 1 World heavy weights including Romain Grosjean, David Coulthard and Indycar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay to name but a few.

The bespoke software is at the heart of the event and is used as a complete operational tool for race control, event and venue staff as well as TV, broadcast providers, commentators, race teams, marshals and show control.

The minute by minute system allows race organisers to monitor everything that happens behind the scenes or on track. So when the doors open the system is updated and everyone with a web accessible device knows the people have arrived.

The system keeps track of everything and every single person is kept up to date on whats going on. Nobody need be in the dark, no matter the role they perform all information is available for all.

The event management team in car changing area need to know who's driving next? Do they have a co-driver available? This system lets all members of the team know where the driver needs to be, if the driver needs to be down on track or waiting to race.

Talking of passengers we have built a passenger management system. It keeps track of every passenger available for the cars. The weight category, contact details and preferred driver can all be stored. It also monitors those passengers that need to be available for contractual obligation. This makes cataloging available passengers a synch.

Are the drivers in the cars and "Race Ready" to go out on the track? The MBM system shows this status lettings everyone know that Car Changing Area is ready to go for the next heat.

31458

When the cars are on track and ready, the system can be updated to show that race is on going.

31454

It tracks everything that’s going on in real time, the organisers know if something is running late and can adjust what’s going on to make up the time if needed.

If you add new items to the tree the actual time that each subsequent item will update and be displayed. But those items can be compared to the scheduled time that was agreed at the start of the event.

31452

The minute by minute system allows organisers to track contractual obligations so if it’s important that a particular item starts at a given time these items can be marked up. A report screen allows you to view all obligations to make sure they are all met. The timeline also allows broadcast items to be added which are fixed at a given time. To allow you to see the times that television coverage is due to start or end and make sure that the more flexible main timeline doesn't get out of whack with fixed elements.

31459

The system pulls data in from Timing Solutions Limited to automatically mark winners for each race. It stores the times against each race driver for each race. Allowing the system too automatically pre populate the subsequent group stages

31455

At each Race Of Champions event each driver will compete in many different types of car. To ensure they all compete with an equal footing the MBM system has custom reporting to show which car a driver has driven and how many times. So the organiser knows that when two drivers go up against each other they both have equal chances of winning.

When the people leave after having a great day out, the seconds tick down and the last item gets marked as finished

31456

I can't help but have great pride in this development, nobody else has built a system like this. So to be able to enable a global sport event to run the event in a way which lets everyone pull together in the same direction is a great achievement.
