Focusing on accountability and leading our development team, ensuring all team members are delivering and implementing projects to a high-quality standard and on time. Taking ownership of the technology strategy shaping the future of the agency.
To lead teams in the delivery of solutions in agreed timescales and budgets, and to be accountable for ensuring all websites are stable and fit for purpose.

key responsibilities and accountabilities 

Solution Development and Delivery

  • Offers technical support across practices in offering definition and positioning
  • Suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and / or longer life
  • Serves as a technical expert representative across teams, clients, and the information technology industry
  • Develop and manage the technology within the business and provide analysis and reporting on agency development performance and resourcing to the Global Operations Director
  • To be open and interested in new technology and methods of delivering the company’s products and services, and to continually develop personal technical skills and to challenge and stretch boundaries
  • Defines, communicates and enforces Coding standards
  • Defines, communicates and enforces Development process
  • Defines, communicates and enforces Dev-ops process
  • Ensures that we consistently deliver superior technical solutions to clients

Technical Effort Management

  • Promotes and co-ordinates technical knowledge harvesting within the organisation
  • Ensuring correct processes are documented during all stages of development, leading to improvements of processes and systems
  • Identifies reusable code required for our code library and ensures the high-quality creation of the code
  • Tracks and identifies new opportunities to improve our methodology and training offerings
  • Assists in strategic sales efforts from a technical perspective
  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to our clients
  • Ensure all development teams are meeting project milestones and deliverables, supporting Project Managers and Account Managers in ensuring high levels of customer service and customer satisfaction
  • Minimise the number of non-productive or non-billable hours and ensure effective delivery of work against deadlines and budgets

Leadership and Management

  • Provide leadership, management and support for technical teams within the agency
  • Responsible for the Sagittarius Training Academy Sitecore/ Developer tracks
  • To take an active part in the development teams appraisals and personal development including the mentoring and training of junior members of the team
  • To take responsibility for the induction and training and mentoring support for direct reports
  • Creates an environment where Innovators can successfully achieve professional career path goals
  • Enforces standard policies and procedures and champions change and can effectively manage the implementation of new ideas
  • Reinforces team approach throughout development efforts

Internal Operations

  • Utilising technology and resource effectively and efficiently, balancing resources (including offshore resource) across billable projects and workflows
  • Reporting against agency KPI’s and the Technical teams KPI’s
  • To be always looking for new avenues and opportunities for Sagittarius and to accurately record all worked hours against the appropriate client and to report any work requests to the appropriate lead
  • Ensure the development team are delivering projects profitably, and against project specifications consistently and that all hours are logged correctly to the relevant projects

  • To be able to multi task and maintain great attention to detail and will have exceptionally strong time management skills and be able to remain focused and inspire teams

job specific skills/experience 

  • Have passion for new technologies and be experienced in working on large value portfolio and big web site projects
  • To have the ability to forward plan and evaluate the impact of integration across businesses and platforms
  • An understanding of the cost and consequence of implementation from both a technology and architectural perspective
  • Ability to document work and projects and report to the leadership and management team
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines 

technical skills

  • In-depth knowledge of C#, SQL Server (TSQL Query language to developer level), IIS, Visual Studio, XHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, Sitecore and Mongo DB
  • In-depth knowledge of CI (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous Deployment) technologies, such as TeamCity, VSTS, OctopusDeploy and Sonarqube
  • Able to design and architect technically sophisticated solutions to meet challenging business requirements
  • Strong knowledge of complex database concepts and creates standards to be applied across project teams
  • Strong knowledge of client/server and Internet systems architectures and creates standards to be applied across project teams.
