key responsibilities and accountabilities. 

  • Leadership, Management and Accountability for the Marketing & Communications output
  • Global Marketing Strategy
  • Set and Achieve Marketing Plans
  • Creation of content strategy and assets (eg Editorial and PR)
  • Product Owner for core communications channels (eg. agency website and social)
  • Brand Implementation & Communications
  • Ensure Marketing ROI through the impact on awareness and sales
  • Internal Communication standards, consistency and integration.
  • Manage Marketing People, Process and Tools (inc partners/suppliers and budget)
  • Sit as a member of our SMT (senior management team) and contribute accordingly.
  • Be an ambassador and public face of the agency

purpose of the role.

  • Drive the organisation’s brand and digital experiences and steer its digital-first vision and measure the impact of digital experiences
  • Devise, manage and execute effective, innovative and creative marketing campaigns for the promotion of Sagittarius, it’s companies, products and services
  • Devise and implement a strategic, consistent communications message and framework across all appropriate channels (e.g. web, email, social media, PR, events, shows, speaking opportunities)
  • Create and oversee the delivery of agencies content and events plan calendar in order to best position Sagittarius with its clients and prospective audience
  • Set and manage marketing budgets, take responsibility for implementation and manage marketing expenditure
  • Build and nurture relationships with key strategic agency partners and suppliers
  • Report on marketing activities, effectiveness and ROI delivered
  • Understand the agencies target audiences and existing client’s needs
  • Work with the Senior Management and Sales Teams to identify key opportunities (SWOT), sectors and propositions
  • Manage, execute and report on the Sagittarius website, it's content via the Sitecore CMS platform to ensure relevance
  • Generate/write effective content that promotes our work via all channels (inc press releases on behalf of Sagittarius to brief industry journalists/ press)
  • Oversee all social media activity for the agency
  • Manage attendance at industry networking events and trade exhibitions
  • Coordinate the agencies own thought leadership and networking events, including sourcing speakers
  • Measure the performance of the key Sagittarius assets and the internal teams that support them.
  • Manage and maintain the CRM platform for the agency
  • Oversee incoming sales enquiries via comms assets, respond accordingly and pass to the Business Development team for follow up
  • In all dealings with partners and suppliers, always looking for new avenues and opportunities for Sagittarius to fulfil its ambitions
  • Manage and coordinate agency entries and participation for awards and achievements
  • Oversee all email marketing campaigns for the agency via Zoho Campaigns
  • Brief and manage internal teams with development and design projects.

  • Exceptionally strong communication skills – both written and verbal, to be confident and comfortable presenting to large and small groups, internally and externally
  • First-class relationship building skills – able to build and maintain credibility, work with integrity and professionalism
  • The ability to work to targets and deadlines and to be able to deliver measurable results

  • Ability to work against internal and external deadlines.


technical skills.

  • Good practice and understanding of Google documents, Google mail and Google platform
  • Good practice and understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Working knowledge of a CRM system (eg Zoho, Hubspot etc)
  • DSMN8
  • Website CMS (eg Sitecore, Episerver etc)
  • Buffer/ Hootsuite (social scheduling tools)
  • Event booking systems such as Eventbrite
  • Sitecore knowledge would be advantageous
  • An understanding of the business/publisher side of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube

qualifications / training.

  • A broad Marketing experience would be an advantage
  • Formal marketing qualification such as CIM or IDM or a related business qualification
  • AdWords qualified


previous experience.

To have had the experience of a similar, senior brand side role in a marketing agency, and of managing a team (be that internal staff or external suppliers) in this environment.
