LJMU is a public research university in the city of Liverpool. The university was established back in 1823 as the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts and strives to ensure they deliver student's with the best experience both online and offline as possible.

the brief

Liverpool John Moores University wanted to deliver the best possible student experience online with a website that is easy to use, accessible and informative.

They commissioned Sagittarius to work with them on a Website Search Improvement Project to create an intuitive and dynamic search functionality that returns relevant results to students as well as the ability for each academic department to manage the related news stories on their pages.

the challenge

Our recommendations were to improve the course search functionality on the website, allowing LJMU to boost relevant search results and enabling users to search by keyword or subject, see all courses in an alphabetised list and save favourite courses to a wish list.

the solution

Sagittarius suggested and delivered a device-agnostic UX and Design project as it was crucial that the website be easy to use and navigate for people on the go, especially students who are hyper-connected.

Sagittarius also completed a session of user experience interviews and usability testing on the UX and design of the website improvements to ensure the search functionality met students’ needs.
