This year I was lucky enough to take part in BIMA Digital Day. Digital Day is aimed at 11-16-year-olds and sees digital professionals head to schools for a day to inspire students and give them insight into the world of digital careers. It was great to talk to the students about my experience in digital, what led me to Sitecore Optimisation Consultancy and the world of composable Sitecore Technology.
The only digital initiative of its kind, Digital Day is aimed at 11–16-year-olds and sees digital professionals head to schools across the UK for a day to inspire students and give them insight into the world of digital careers.
As part of the day, students compete in a sponsored nationwide digital challenge with the chance to be crowned Digital Day champions – winning £500 cash for their school and some amazing prizes for themselves. What’s more, it’s completely free for schools and agencies to take part!
Myself and Sagittarius were lucky enough to attend the Green School for Girls in Isleworth for the day. The girls were challenged by Vue Cinemas to use digital to get more young people back into the cinema post-pandemic. The class were split into 4 teams and off they went starting with discovery, then onto design before putting together their final presentation.
Sagittarius sent an all-women cast along to BIMA Digital Day so it was great to talk to the young students about all the opportunities available in the digital and tech world. The students were full of questions and fascinated by our job roles, education and career journey.
Throughout the day we were there to answer questions about what we do day to day, the tools and products we use and the clients we work with.
My highlight of the day was speaking to the students about what I do as a Sitecore Optimisation Consultant and introducing them to the composable world we are in today. It was amazing how much the girls took in and retained about the different products and the concept of a tech stack itself.
